Though it can convert digital audio files into a number of formats, this program's real appeal lies in its strong set of editing tools. We liked the interface, which is dominated by a detailed view of the audio waveform. Buttons for the most popular editing tools sit in well-organized rows at the top of the application.

This app gives you the ability to invert part of a file, add silence and fade-outs, stretch time, and mix tracks. You'll also find a buffet of effects such as delay, compression, flange, and reverb. After you make your changes, the program lets you preview before you save them. Due to this program's powerful and extensive set of editing tools, we think audio editors, DJs, and musicians will find a lot to like, though beginners might need something with fewer options.
